About small business DAViCal / LDAP / Thunderbird + Lightning configuration
Thanks for those examples. My experience is not enough good to be published in main page, but I try here to give my feedback step by step. I encourage you to answer here. When a working configuration will be available, I'll publish something better!
My own experience
My configuration
- local network with no security issue and around 25 users
- DAViCal 0.9.9.4 (Ubuntu server 10.04 LTS under VirtualBox 4.0.2 under Windows XP)
- Thunderbird 3.1.7 (Mandriva 2010.2 + Windows XP + Windows Server 2003)
- Lightning 1.0b2
My LDAP experience
- easy to configure LDAP address book in Thunderbird / Lightning for e-mail address
- LDAP authentication configuration is quite touchy, and I try to loggin with LDAP authentication without creating any DAViCal user --> it fails (user created but not displayed in admin.php lists and not good rights to be able to create a calendar entry).
My Lightning experience
- Lightning doesn't implements caldav invites. Need email invites (quite boring).
- Free-busy works fine
- Each calendar need to be imported. Default configuration files (all-me.js) are not parsed under Windows (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\defaults\pref), but correctly parsed under Linux.
My questions
- Is there a way to configure users and groups and to change privileges into groups only according to defined policy (that could be modified time to time, at least at the beginning) ?
- I've got users and resources. How shall I configure users, resources and according groups to:
- allow users to create entries in their own calendar
- disallow users to create entries in others calendars
- allow users to create entries in resources calendars
